| Habra monastery
is situated at the border of Chchis village with Grosi village and
it is a place where history is combined with religion, because the
story of Habrta monastery goes through the ages. Built by the bishop
Efrem, the monastery was destroyed by the year 1606, after the death
of Michael the Brave, as reprisals for the support that the monks
have offered him. he Romanian leaders of the communities from Baia
Mare, Chioar and Satmar repeatedly petitioned the Austrian authorities
asking for justice with regard to the Habra Monastery and for their
approval to rebuild it. But the petitiones remained unanswered.he
memory of the monastery has been preserved for 400 years both by historical
documents and by an interesting legend which made the site a destination
for pilgrimage |

The monastery was reestablished in 1996 as
a nunnery, under the name of The Resurrection. In memory of Michael
the Brave the monastery was given a second name: The Saints Archangels
Michael and Gabriel. Bishop Efrem, Michael the Brave and his family
are commemorated here at every Mass. The building of the site is still
in progress. In August 2001, Michael the Brave's death was commemorated
and a bronze sculpture, signed by the sculptor loan Marchis, representing
the martyris head was placed next to the monastery. There is even
a legend about the monastery. According to this legend in Ressurection
night at midnight there were blazes burning on the saint place and
the church bell was heard uttering the Ressurection.
